Blessed Assurance
Theme: This Is My Story, This Is My Song.

Introduction:

A.     Through the years – many have discussed or debated one’s (or, others’) assurance of salvation.

B.     I challenge you to ask the question: Why?

C.     I encourage you to have a biblically sound and uplifting view of your salvation in Christ.

II.       Salvation is Assured to those in Christ

A.      No condemnation for those in Christ. Rom. 8:1-8

1.       Our minds are set on the Spirit. V. 2

2.       We’re freed from the law of sin/death. V. 3 (Rom. 7:24f); vss. 10-14 (Gal. 5:19-21)

B.     We can call God “Abba! Father!” Rom. 8:15-17

C.     Nothing can separate us from Christ! V. 31ff

III.      Our Confidence: In Christ, not Ourselves

A.      God is greater than our doubts. 1 Jn. 3:19-20

1.       Our confidence is in God, not self. V. 21

2.       Why? Our salvation is in Christ, not self. Vs. 23-24

B.     When our journey here ends we can say: I have fought the good fight … there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day (2 Ti 4:7–8).

Conclusion:

A.      There will ALWAYS be discussion and debate over the surety of our salvation.

B.     Live in the Spirit of Savior and confidently and graciously KNOW your surety is in Christ.

C.     Is this your story and song?
