Have You Seen Him?
Theme: Not now, but wait till we’re resurrected!
1 John 3:1-3

Introduction:

A.      Most of the religious world professing Christianity will specially celebrate our risen Christ next Sunday.

1.      We will do it as well!

2.      Then again, we commemorate his death and his resurrection each Lord’s day.

3.      While we do such each week, it should never become old nor taken for granted.

B.     While remembering our Savior’s resurrection, it is good to remember our own.

1.      After all, our Savior’s resurrection is God’s way of giving us hope for our own.

2.      The reward of our resurrection is to finally be face to face with our eternal Creator/heavenly Father.

Discussion:

I.         The Resurrection Gives Us Great Hope

A.      Jesus’ resurrection: the greatest event in history.

1.      It’s greater than the beginning of creation. Gen. 1:31

2.      It’s greater than The Word of God taking on flesh. Jn. 1:14-16

3.      It is God’s greatest manifestation of His love, promise and assurance to mankind. 1 Pet. 1:3

B.     Through Christ we also have a hope of resurrection to eternal life.

1.      Everything He promised to His people of old (Israelites) came true.

2.      Ultimately, God promised His Son as our sin-sacrifice and delivered on it. Jn. 3:16

3.      We have every reason to believe we shall be raised up to Him eternally as well. Rom. 8:11

II.       Our Reward: Face to Face With God

A.      No one has ever seen our God. Exo. 33:20; 1 Tim. 6:15-16

B.     Now: we can only see Him by faith:

1.       Through His Creation. Acts 17:24

2.       Through His word (the Bible). Heb. 1:1

3.       Through The Word that became flesh. Heb. 1:1-2; Jn. 1:1

Conclusion:

A.      Do You Want to See Him?

1.      If we want to see our God face to face we have only one option: die to self and be raised up in the name of Christ. Rom. 6:3ff

2.      Then, on that special day we shall see Him face to face.
