Walking in the Spirit

Introduction:

A.      Imagine, we deserve death but God is going to allow us eternal fellowship with Him!

B.     Does that mean Christians have the liberty to go about sinning?

C.     Absolutely not! Rom. 6:1

A person who comes to know the love of the Lord – and His salvation – will be lead by love to walk in Him.

Discussion:

I.         No Condemnation To those In Christ

A.      Because, through Jesus, our wretched lives are freed from a deserving death. Rom. 7:24-25

B.     Because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ freed us from the law of sin and death. Rom. 8:2

C.     Because what the Law (of Moses) could not do, Christ could! Rom. 8:3 (cp. Jn. 1:14; Phil. 2:7)

D.     Because the requirement of the Law is fulfilled by those who walk according to the Spirit. Rom. 8:4

II.       Those Who Walk in the Flesh

A.      Set their minds on the flesh. V. 5 (Gal. 5:19-21)

B.     It is a mindset of death. V. 6

C.     It is a mind hostile toward God. V. 7

D.     It does not subject itself to the law of God. V. 7

Ultimately, it is a mind – and life – that cannot please God. V. 8

III.      Those Who Walk in the Spirit

A.      Set their minds on the things of the Spirit. Gal. 5:22

B.     It is a mind set on life and peace. V. 6, 13

C.     There is no law to which a person who lives – according to the Spirit – is condemned. Gal. 5:18

Conclusion:

Set your mind on the Spirit of God and be well pleasing to our Heavenly Father
