Using Your Weakness
2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Introduction:

A.      Power – not weakness – is what we naturally desire.

1.      Stronger, not weaker.

2.      Faster, not slower.

3.      Smarter, not dumber.

4.      Good looking, not ugly.

B.     These are not wrong in and of themselves... and in certain instances, are needed.

The Problem Begins when we start exalting ourselves, thus minimizing our Awesome God.

Discussion:

I.         Case In Point:

A.      Saul

1.      God chose a king as man would desire. 1 Sam. 9:1-2; 1 Sam. 16:7

2.      He became rebellious, great in his own eyes. 1 Sam. 9:20-21; 1 Sam. 15

B.      David

1.      God chose a king who would bring Him glory. Cp. Acts 13:21-22

2.      While not perfect, he exalted in God!

II.       All To God’s Glory

A.      A fledgling nation + no military weapons or experience = make HIS NAME GREAT among the nations. 1 Chron. 16:8-31

B.      300 men vs. 135,000 = Magnificent God! Jdgs. 7:1-7, 8:10

C.      Acknowledged sinners: not self-righteous = exalted by God. Lk. 18:9-14

Conclusion:

Never boast except IN THE LORD. 1 Cor. 1:26-31
