Introduction:
A.
Everyday news of Islam is broadcasted over our radio waves,
Internet and newspapers.
B.
The time has come for Christians to understand the doctrine
(and dangers) of Islam.
C.
This sermon serves to stir your awareness and understanding
of its error and dangers.
Discussion:
I.
Background To Islam
A.
It
is arguably the fastest growing religion in the world.
1.
True or not, the number of people identified with Islam is
about 1.2 – 1.8 billion, 2nd only to 2.1 billion identified as
Christian.
2.
As of 2008 there are approximately 1.35 million Muslims in
the U.S.
3.
Accordingly, Islam would rank as the 2nd largest religion
in the U.S.
B.
The
Qur’an’s history.
1.
“Began with revelations on Muhammad’s divine
revelations” when he was 40 years old (610 A.D.) til his death
(632 A.D.).
2.
The problem is that these revelations are contrary to the
doctrine of Christ. 2
Jn. 9
3.
Further, the Law of Moses was to bring people to Christ,
not beyond Him. Gal.
3:24; Jude 3
II.
The Error of Islam
A.
Teaching
about God.
1.
Qur’an: Allah is one (4:171);
▪
Bible: Godhead (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
2.
Qur’an: Allah has no son;
▪
Bible: Jesus is the Son of God.
B.
Teaching
about Jesus Christ.
1.
Qur’an: Jesus was born like the rest of man. 3:59
▪
Bible: Jesus part of the Godhead. Jn.
1:1-3, 14
2.
Qur’an: Jesus refused worship. 5:116
▪
Bible: Jesus accepted worship. Matt.
14:33; 28:9
3.
Qur’an: Jesus was not crucified. 4:157
▪
Bible: Jesus was crucified. Jn.
19:14-20; 1 Cor. 2:2
4.
Qur’an: no one to bear sins for man. 6:123-124
▪
Bible: Jesus bears our sins. Heb.
9:28
C.
The
Qur’an does not teach:
1.
Jesus as the only way of salvation to the (heavenly)
Father. Jn.
14:6
2.
Instead, it teaches man to follow the teachings and life
example of Muhammad.
D.
Summary
1.
When Jesus Christ is lessened by one iota, the gospel
becomes false. Cp. Gal.
1:6-10
2.
Anyone bringing a different teaching has no fellowship with
God. 1
Jn. 4:2-3; 2 Jn. 9
E.
While
we see the Christian view toward a Muslim, what is the Muslim view
toward Christianity/Christians?
III.
The Dangers of Islam
A.
Clearly:
there are Muslims who do not act out in “terror” against
non-Muslims.
B.
The
question, however, we want answered: is this a fair and balanced
view of Islam?
1.
If so, why are there so many reports of “terrorist” of
violence against non-Muslims?
2.
Are these acts exclusively practiced out of defense?
C.
Muslims
believe their acts are done out of vengeance for years of those
who have oppressed them.
1.
Regarding the Western world: Hussein Massawi (former leader
of Hezbollah) – “We are not fighting so that you will offer us
something. We are fighting to eliminate you.”
2.
Hamas Parliament speaker calls for Muslims to kills
Jews/Americans.
3.
Nancy Perkins (American school teacher in Saudi and
Kuwait): “I couldn't wait to get out of there - daily the Imam
called out for prayers saying "Allah Akbar - Death to
Americans.”
D.
Warnings from expert and ex-Muslim:
1.
Robert
Spencer (Jihad Watch): “The doctrines of jihad and Islamic supremacism threaten the peace and
human rights of all free people. If it is not confronted and
resisted, it will prevail.”
2.
Walid
Shoebat (author, Why I Left Jihad): “Islam: What the West Needs To Know” documentary on the
reality of violence associated with the Islamic faith.
Conclusion:
A.
To accept the Islamic faith is to totally reject Jesus as
the way to God.
B.
Our sword is the Word of God in defending the truth. Eph.
6:17
C.
Let
our faith be solely in Christ and no other … no matter what. 1
Pet. 4:16
