Congregational Meeting
January 7, 2007
- Introduction & Prayer: Edwin
Crozier
Acts
14:27 says, "And when they arrived and gathered the
church together, they declared all that God had done with them
..." In the same way, the Elders have reserved each 5th Sunday of the
month to report on the work and needs of this congregation.
This meeting was delayed until January so that members traveling
during the holidays could be present for the meeting.
- Bible Class Program: Steve
Garrett
Steve began his report by reading I
Corinthians 12:12, 14-18. Steve distributed a Volunteer
Survey form to each member, and he described the many opportunities of
service that we have.
Steve named those serving on the Education
Committee and briefly explained each one's responsibilities, as
follows:
Mark Jones.....Children's Classes (Nursery -
5th Grade)
Steve Garrett.....Youth Classes (Grades 6 - 12)
Edwin Crozier.....Adult Classes
The class coordinators ensure teachers are identified for each
age group and that classrooms and teaching materials are
available in a timely manner. Class coordinators serve for
a term of one year.
Jeanne Parham & Brenda Wells.....Teacher Support
Those assigned to teacher support are charged with the
responsibility of doing whatever they can to make our teachers'
jobs easier.
Martha Adams.....Resources Support
Resources support involves assembling the material for our new
curriculum, "Our
Spiritual Heritage." This is an awesome task
which will take years to complete. The Curriculum
Support Group is scheduled to resume its weekly meetings at
10:00 am on Tuesday, January 9th.
Bill Ray.....Facilities Support
The implementation of "Our
Spiritual Heritage" involves the renovation of our
classrooms to accommodate special teaching methods.
Bob & Evelyn Garrett.....Publicity
Our publicity efforts include the publication of quarterly
newsletters titled Bible Class Report.
Wiley Deason.....Vacation Bible School
The VBS coordinator is responsible for inviting a guest speaker
to teach the adult classes and for identifying teachers for each
of the children's age groups. VBS
2007 is scheduled for June 17-21. Mark your calendar
and plan to participate.
Don Adair.....Elders' Representative
The Elders' Representative serves as the liaison between the
Elders and the members of the Education Committee.
Steve concluded his remarks be encouraging
each member to complete and turn in a Volunteer
Survey form. He stressed the importance of making our
skills and experiences known so that we can serve the Lord in
the most effective way.

Hebrews.
-
Guest
Evangelism - Edwin stated that the 6-month assignments
in our Guest Evangelism Program will be changing soon.
He asked that we begin to think about our roles for the
upcoming term.
- Family News: Ron
Adams
Ron, speaking on behalf of the Elders,
reported on the status of several missing members. He
stated that prayers and other attempts are always made to
restore brethren, and that we as members should also take an
active role in this effort.
Ron read Hebrews
10:19-25, and stated that a pattern of missing the
assemblies is an early indicator that a member is falling
away. Ron read I
Timothy 5:20, I Corinthians 5, and Galatians 6:1 to remind
us of how we are taught to restore our brothers and sisters who
have fallen away.
Ron reported that the Elders have learned that
the following individuals are worshiping with other congregations, as
follows: Matt Hagewood is now worshiping with the White
House congregation, Beth Lynch and her family are now worshiping
with the Brentwood congregation, and April McElhiney is now
worshiping with the Riverside congregation.
Ron asked the congregation to continue in
prayer for the following individuals who, to the best of the
Elders' knowledge, do not appear to be worshiping with any
congregation at the present time: Cindy
Anderson, Mike Cook, Joan Johnson, the Mahoney family, Brenda
Sayles, and Cherry West.
David
Coleman led a special closing prayer for these missing
members and for the congregation.
