Fourth Annual Fall Focus

Today is the first day of fall. Leaves will change color, temperatures fall, days shorten. Fall is a great time of year. However, it is even more special at the Franklin Church of Christ. Each year we take one month in the fall to focus on one very special topic.

Over the past three years, we have used this month to study prayer, the family and the Sermon on the Mount. This year is no exception to our Fall Focus. In just one week, we will begin our month long focus on God.

This year’s focus is entitled Walks with God. To help us learn to walk with God, we will provide each family with a special devotional book to focus our minds on God each day. That book will include a weekly group discussion guide, facilitating a relationship with our brethren so we may walk with God together. Additionally, each sermon from September 30 through November 4 will help us get to know God better and draw closer to Him in our daily journey to heaven.

The sermons in our series will be as follows:

September 30:

Getting to Know God

Worshipping God

October 7:

      Jesus: The Fullness of Deity

      Rendering to God

October 14:

      Led by the Spirit

      We Need God

October 21:

      Walking with God

      Loving God

October 28:

      Waiting on God

      Relying on God

November 4:

      Confessing God

Praising God: A Lesson in Scripture Reading, Prayer, and Song

This is going to be an exciting month. More than that, it will be an edifying month. I believe this month, of all the focuses we have had, will help us the most on a practical level in serving our God.

James 4:7-8 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”

This year’s fall focus is all about this verse. We must resist the devil and draw near to God if the devil will flee and God will draw near. How do we do that? Take part in our Fall Focus and you will find out. Don’t forget to tell your friends about it too.
