Plugging In: Devoted To Prayer

The countdown has begun, the day is near. I hope you are as excited as I am.

Beginning October 3, two weeks from today, we will conduct our first Fall Focus. Throughout October, we will focus on prayer. We will study prayer as we gather in our assemblies. We will study prayer as the men’s and women’s groups get together. We will study prayer at home on a daily basis working through the devotional book with which each family will be provided. We will end November 5-7 with a weekend meeting studying prayer. Is there a greater subject for us to examine?

I am convinced that any church desiring to grow spiritually and spread the borders of God’s kingdom must be devoted to prayer.

I am convinced that any family desiring to function properly, growing close to one another and closer to God must be devoted to prayer.

I am convinced that any individual desiring to glorify God, be useful to Him and live successfully must be devoted to prayer.

How amazing it is that the all-knowing, all-holy, ever-present, all-powerful God allows us to pray to Him. What a privilege. In fact, next to eternal life, prayer is our greatest privilege.

Yet, it is also one of the greatest mysteries. We all have questions about prayer. Regrettably, for some, our questions hinder our prayer lives. As our prayer lives are hindered, our connection to the Power of the universe is hindered. Therefore, we must study prayer.

I am fully convinced that our Fall Focus, “Plugging In: Devoted To Prayer,” will be an amazing time of growth for the Franklin Church of Christ. We will draw closer to God as we learn how to connect with Him in prayer. Additionally, we will draw closer to one another as we pray with and for each other.

Further, we have a great opportunity to impact the lost in our community. Many non-Christians want to know God. Many want to know how to talk to Him. We can help them. We must help them. This Fall Focus will provide that help.

We have mail-outs scheduled to be delivered by the end of this week. Additionally, the week before the series begins, we will air commercials on AM-950.

But the greatest way we can impact the people around us is for you to let them know about this exciting focus. Pick up some of the printed postcards and give them or mail them to a friend. Talk up the series at work. Then, make sure you are devoted to working through our Fall Focus. It will be a great month.

Of course, above all, pray for God’s blessing on this work. Finally, be excited.
