Thank You Easter Guests

If you are a guest at the Franklin Church of Christ today, we want you to know how much we appreciate your presence. We also want you to know how much God appreciates you. You are important to God.

Over 2000 years ago, a baby was born who may have looked just like one of us. But He was different. Within the manger lay not just a baby, but the Word of God become flesh (John 1:1, 14).

He came not to grow up royally and be served. Rather, He came to serve you and give His life as a ransom for you (Matthew 20:28). That is how important you are to God.

Most people in our society hold this particular weekend as especially associated with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. While we at the Franklin Church of Christ celebrate Christ’s death and resurrection on every Sunday, we are certainly thankful that people the world over are thinking about Jesus’ sacrifice today.

We need to pause and think about the lessons Christ’s sacrifice contains for us today.

First, Jesus’ sacrifice means He loves us. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.”

Second, He loves us even though He knew beforehand all the rotten things we would do. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” We may shock our friends and family with our sins, but not God. He knew our sins, but sent His Son for us anyway.

Third, Jesus’ sacrifice means we ought to love God. I John 4:19 says, “We love, because He first loved us.” I John 5:3 says, “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.” Finally, Matthew 22:37 says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Considering what Jesus did for us, don’t you think He deserves this from us?

Fourth, Jesus’ sacrifice means we need to love one another. I John 4:11 says, “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” No matter our background, gender or skin color we ought to love each other, wanting to help each other grow, serve God and go to heaven.

These four lessons are extremely important to us at the Franklin Church of Christ. We are thankful for God’s love. We love God and are striving to grow in obedience to His will at all times. Finally, we love each other and we love you. One of our greatest goals is to help each other get to heaven. If there is anything we can do to help you grow closer to God, will you please let us know before you leave today? Thank you.
